Hermione Way has posted a video on YouTube expressing her desire to walk down the aisle with her 17 inch MacBook Pro. The clip shows the British technology entrepreneur take her laptop, which she calls ‘Alex,’ on a protest outside the House of Commons. Then, the machine using typed text-to-voice converting software demands the legalisation of computer to human marriages.

The mini documentary reveals that the pair will exchange unofficial vows on January 31. It adds that they have not spent a day apart in two years. Also, Way’s mum Jane is present in the short film. “We know Hermione will be happy and that’s all we ever want for her,” the Sun quoted her as saying in the video. Way added: “The great thing is Alex doesn’t care what I look like and I can just be myself with him. “We spend every minute together and as long as it’s not hurting anyone, why shouldn’t you be allowed to be happy?

“It is definitely love. I’ve never ever felt this way about someone. We spend a lot of time together in my bed. He’s one heck of a machine and his hard drive works perfectly.” Way insists marriage to machine should be legalized just the same way civil partnerships for homosexuals have been made legal in the UK.

The women all wore white gowns, and each received rings and a kiss from the groom at a ceremony attended by hundreds of people.

South African law recognises polygamous marriages, which are common among several tribes including the Zulus and Swazis, but simultaneous weddings are rare.

Mr Mbhele, 44, a municipal manager in Indaka, said the joint celebration saved money by combining the festivities.

He has already been married to Thobile Vilakazi for 12 years and has 11 children.

“I want her to be happy,” he said of Ms Vilakazi. “I think getting married to her for the second time would make her happy since I will be taking in three other wives so this will relieve her in some way.”

His “middle wives” – as he described them – are Zanele Langa and Happiness Mdlolo, both 24.

The youngest wife, 23-year-old Smangele Cele, said she was looking forward to marrying Mr Mbhele, even though it means she’ll have to share him. She said the wives planned to live separately, with their husband rotating between them.

“It is because of the way in which he shows his love for me. He loves me in all ways,” she said.

Hundreds of people, some travelling for hours, turned up to see Bao, 59, wed saleswoman Xia Shujuan, a mere 5 foot 6 inches tall and just 29 years old.

Draped in a shimmering blue silk coat, Bao waved to the crowd before going into an enormous yurt where guests ate lamb and cheese and watched Mongolian song and dance shows.

The bride’s attendants pretended to prevent Bao from getting into the camp, following the Mongolian tradition.

Relatives from the bride’s family offered the traditional Mongolian tea to Bao and Bao accepted the tea happily, which symbolised that the world’s tallest man has been accepted as son-in-law of the bride’s family.

If we can have children, we’ll have children,” Bao said before the wedding. “If not, then not. If we have a child, I hope he or she can be about 2 metres tall. Then he or she can play basketball.”

Xia said she was madly in love.

“You need to have feelings for someone to be in love. Even if he is a big shot, you can’t love him without feelings,” Xia said.

Bao was confirmed as the world’s tallest living man by Guinness World Records last year. He overtook the previous holder, Radhouane Charbib of Tunisia, by just 2 mm.

The Guinness World Records says Bao was of normal height until 16 but then put on a spurt that doctors were unable to explain, reaching his full height in seven years.

He put out marriage advertisements around the world, but ended up wedding somebody from his home town, Chifeng.

Bao and his wife were legally married in March, but wanted to also have an authentic Mongolian ceremony.

More than two thousand people including relatives of Bao and his bride, local people and reporters witnessed the traditional wedding.

After a career in the army, where he was recruited for a basketball team, he returned to Inner Mongolia. He now herds livestock and hires himself out for publicity stunts.

The “blessing ceremony” is the church’s largest since 1999, and may well be the last on such a grand scale officiated by the 89-year-old Rev. Sun Myung Moon, the controversial founder of the Unification Church.

Nearly a half-century after arranging the marriages of 24 couples in his first mass wedding, Moon offered blessings Wednesday for more than 20,000 people gathered at Sun Moon University, the school he founded in Asan, south of Seoul.

About half are marrying for the first time, some in marriages arranged by Moon himself; the rest are renewing their wedding vows. Twenty-thousand others are expected to watch via Internet broadcast at simultaneous ceremonies taking place from Sweden to Brazil.

Handing leadership to children
The mass wedding comes as Moon is moving to hand day-to-day leadership over to his children. On Wednesday, the Rev. Moon Hyung-jin, the 30-year-old son tapped to take over religious leadership, opened the ceremony at the flower-festooned altar.

“The blessing you are receiving today is the most precious thing, one cannot exchange anything in the world,” he said.

He insists his father remains in charge of the church and in good health. The massive global ceremony is meant to mark two key anniversaries in the leader’s life: his 90th birthday and his 50th wedding anniversary, church official say.

Row after row of brides wearing veils and grooms in white gloves — hailing from South Korea, the U.S., Japan and Europe — joined married couples renewing their vows. Earlier, they posed for photos, sang and practiced shouting “Hurrah!” as the wedding rehearsal got under way.

“I’m a little bit nervous,” Rie Furuta, 25, admitted before the ceremony. She had her groom, Tadakuni Sano, both 25-year-olds from Japan, have met only three times since their marriage was arranged in March.

Moon picks followers’ spouses
Critics who accuse the church of engaging in cultlike practices say the mass weddings prove it brainwashes its followers. Followers routinely let Moon pick their spouses on the belief that he has divine insight, many meet their future spouses for the first time at the mass weddings.

Moon, a self-proclaimed Messiah who says he was 15 when Jesus Christ called upon him to carry out his unfinished work, has courted controversy and criticism since founding the Unification Church in Seoul in 1954.

He held his first mass wedding in the early 1960s, arranging the marriages of 24 couples himself and renewing the vows of 12 married couples.
